Lina- Protagonistic
Lina is a 12 year old girl who just got out of school.
She lives with her sister, Poppy and and her Grandmother. On job day,
Lina picked Pipeworks Laborer, but traded with Doon to become her
dream job: Messenger. She finds a box in the closet that had a paper
with the words 'Instructions'. Lina hoped it would be the key out of the city,
but when Poopy puts it in her mouth, half the words are lost forever. When
Lina, Doon, and a little help from Clary put their minds together they were able to
figure out the words lost. They areastonished to find the mayor in a room with
everything Ember needs but doesn't have, so they tell one of the guards, but the
mayor covers it up with a alternitive story. The moment Lina and Doon are about to
leave for the new city, Lina is caught by the guards. Then, when the lights went out
she breaks free.
Doon- Protagonistic
Doon is 12 years old and is a real fixer. Doons dream is to fix the generator and save
Ember from the endless darkness. When Doon starts his job he is sad to see that the
generator is in even worse shape than he thought, with patches holding the machine together
almost everywhere. Doon lives with his dad in an apartment over top of a shop with almost
everything in it, and it's just one big clutered mess. When Lina asks for his help, he is curious
because they have a message with a half the words gone and a chance to find the way out of Ember.
Also when Doon and Lina find a door, Doon is eager to check every day to see if it could be open,
and one day it turned out it was, and inside he saw the mayor. In addition, Doon and Lina become
wanted for "spreading vicious rumors" because they told the guard that they saw the mayor. Finally,
Doon was help to the finding of the boats, matches, and candles. He even decided to find out how it works.
The Mayor- Antagonistic
The mayor of Ember is a greedy selfish man who only cares about himself. He takes his
power for granted and is keeping tons of supplies to himself. He is also taking charge of the
workers and getting them to take it for him for a small amount to sell and keep. The mayor
is a man who knows of Ember's crisis but does nothing to help the people. He is a coward.
Poppy- Protagonistic
Poppy is Lina's younger sister and is helpless. She needs Lina to guide her
and keep her safe. Poppy was the one who ate half the instructions, but luckily
Lina stopped her before she ripped it all. Poppy is a sweet and caring girl who
is also curious.
Mrs. Murdo- Protagonistic
Mrs. Murdo is a kind women who helped watch Granny when she was starting
to forget things and took care Lina and Poppy when Granny died. She is a
really kind and gentle women who is able to keep a steady ground and
has a really nice bedroom that the girls slept in.
